This is my first attempt at a creating a website from scratch in over a decade. I want to start a garden and this will be my garden blog. This site was created January 22, 2023. I plan to work on creating my garden this spring and summer.

My name is Brittany. I am almost 40 years old and living in rural southern Nevada. Trying to create a garden in the desert is nearly impossible. We have terrible "soil", extremely dry and hot summers, and wind storms that destroy delicate and not-so-delicate plants and trees. This will be an adventure!

Here is a glimpse of what I am starting with:

To-Do List:

• Plan rows with sections of crops & flowers
• Till the earth to break up the hard soil
• Buy compost and add compost to the tilled soil 50/50
• Create compost bin
• Stake around the garden plot and add mesh fence to block animal intrusion
• Plant seeds
• Add irrigation tubing and set up water timer
• Add fence posts and create a kind of mid-day shade to protect from excessive sun exposure

• hulless oats

• various flowers
